I am looking for a Cover Artist
The current cover is a concept that I photo-shopped into a sort of collage, that may or may not be an issue regarding copyright violation(s). I don’t even know if The Garden of Earthly Delights would be copyrightable, or if the image as a photograph would be a second issue regardless. There may be valid argument that as a photomontage, it would be exempt, since no image is used in its entirety, and the finished product represents a separate, freestanding work, much the way that “sampling” is now allowed of otherwise copyrighted music.
My primary concern is that I believe an original freehand interpretation of the cover would provide an excellent concept for the right artist to showcase their talents.
Anyone interested in exploring this pursuit should contact me to see if we can effect some sort of comfortable collaboration.

Do you still need a cover artist?

Oh yes, absolutely! Part of my gravitar as well as the cover of the book from which it was taken is a portion of Heronimus Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delghts, which is free to use except in the unlikely event that I was to use it in conjuction with anything for profit…so far, no issue.
All of it was photoshopped by my youngest son from internet images, and I would not only like to avoid any civil/legal questions about images and/or intellectual property.
If an artist was to creatively paraphrase the photomontage as it currently exists (with a few “tweaks”) I think it would not only be better legally, but esthetically.
Similarly, I need an artist for the cover of The Home for Wayward Souls and The Talking Monkeys, as well as tpo develop an idea I have for the cover of Once In a Blue Agave Moon.
Do you know anyone who wold be interested?

I believe I do. As for changing existing art, I think the look would have to change enough so it isn’t recognizable as Hieronymus Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights. I’ll look up a couple current cases to be sure and email you. J

My goal would be to capture the essence of Bosch’s scene, but I also wanted to include a flaming airplane (like an old Lear 25) in place of one of the birds, and an ambulance mired down in the bog where the giant black sphere is located in the center of the screen.
I also found an absolutely charming picture of a chimpanzee wearing a telemarketer’s headset that I use as a screensaver at work that may become the centerpiece for “The Home for Wayward Souls and the Talking Monkeys” since I have no cover design as yet for that at all.
I have an idea for “Once in a Blue Agave Moon” that I need to explore.
That would be incredible if any of that could happen.
XO,
C.

I am going to put the picture of Frederick as the cover of THFWS&TTM’s. I will send you a copy via e-mail.
